FAVORITES OF THE MONTH: FEBRUARY

Friday, February 28, 2014

Helloooo to the first "Favorites of the Month" post! Today is the last day of February, and an anon on my Tumblr gave me an amazing idea to create this, so I figured- why not? Let's get started!

Where have you both been hiding!? Now we all know Lush Cosmetics has amazing items all-around; whether it's bath bombs, soaps, moisturizers, hand cream - you name it. On my previous trip to Lush last weekend, I came back home with these two beauties, and let me just say, they work miracles. If you guys follow me on Tumblr you'd know that I had been hunting for a moisturizer (or anything in general) that would get rid of my dry skin. I walked into the store and was immediately assisted by one of the lovely workers in Lush, which was actually the one that recommended Aqua Marina for me. After using them, I found that both the cleanser and moisturizer are the perfect texture for my skin; not too soft, not too harsh. Definitely got rid of the dryness and redness of my skin. 10/10.

Here it comes………. the spring readiness shopping. As I saw these cute little sandals on a window mannequin in front of Forever 21, I rushed (literally) into the store to find myself a pair. I was relatively close to purchasing the black pair, as usual, when I realized that I should probably step out of my comfort zone for once. Great thing I made that decision, because I have a feeling these will be pairing up well with most of the clothes I have purchased for the next season.

Accessory: World Map Watch
Can I just say I really love my best friend so much. Quick story: I've been really stressed out with school lately and hadn't really been myself these past few days. Noticing that, she sneakily got this watch for me (which I had reblogged before on Tumblr), and placed it inside my locker along with a hand-made card. The moment I opened the locker door and saw the card, the smile on my face was as huge as the size of an extra large pizza (sorry, I'm hungry haha). I'm not saying buy me gifts whenever I'm mad or stressed out or feeling terrible, but it was so heart-warming to know that I've got people in my life that truly care for me. So thankyou, Stephanie :)

Huuuuuuuuuge sigh for this one. I keep falling for this band more and more every day (particularly Calum). Being completely surprised with the music video, I really really enjoyed the song the first time I heard it. I actually finished a project I was doing an hour later than needed because of the fact that I kept watching the video. Love love love this song.

Tele: American Horror Story
Okay, I know I'm a bit late on this one, but I've been quite busy with school and trying to get caught up with Doctor Who and Teen Wolf. Not such an easy life for a teenager (could be worse). This show is very, very, odd, and gruesome; part of the reason why I love it. It's such a different show than the typical "boy meets girl, girl falls in love, boy has girlfriend, girl and boy get together in the end, happy happy ending." Although I do sometimes enjoy watching those shoes, not gonna lie, I also need a variety when wanting to watch something new. And American Horror Story is just spot on. I've also added "visit Murder House" in my To-Do List because that totally needs to happen.

Ah, my little Daisy. It's been a few years since I've had this perfume, and I've been in love with it since day 1. It's such a light and sweet scent, which is perfect for me. It makes more sense to use it in the spring time because of the sweetness, but I sometimes I applied it during the winter as well, because oh well, who cares. I don't. I smelled good.

My latest obsession! It's like having your own little model to virtually dress up for different occasions. The Covet Fashion App is what I wake up to in the morning, and what I go to before going to bed at night. What I find so amazing about it is that it actually features top brands that are relevant to this day, some of them being Rebecca Minkoff and Hudson Jeans. Basically, you can enter events which give you a required style to accomplish, and after submitting your outfit, others can vote on your looks. While receiving money for your submission, you can also earn clothing items if enough people like your outfit. In other words - you become a personal stylist with every event you enter. I've provided a link if any of you want to download the app above.

Do you guys have any favorites for the month of February? What are they? Feel free to leave comments below :) See you guys for another "Favorites of the Month" post at the end of March! Xxx

12 LOOKS FOR SPRING

Saturday, February 22, 2014

For today's post, I've gathered 12 appropriate-for-spring looks for you guys (straight from polyvore, thanks polyvore)!

1. White jeans! Yes, white. Don't be afraid to wear them! If paired with appropriate colors, they can really compliment your body. Unrelated topic- this look reminds me of chocolate.
Purchase

2. White jeans can also be paired with light (or dark) denim tops and bare colored heels. I can picture a messy bun to go with this look, as well as loose waves for a more chic look. To be honest, white jeans go with pretty much any color, which is why I happen to love them oh so much.
Purchase

3. Taking a bit of inspiration from Burberry Prorsum's SS14 show, I chose to combine colors I thought I would have never combined before. A mix of colors can always produce beautiful outfits for any season, it all just depends on the shades of them. I personally think this look in general just yells out spring, and I'm completely in love with it.
Purchase

4. This cute little mouse grey-colored skirt is the perfect match for sky blue flats and a nude bag. A white cami/cutout top can be worn with this look.
Purchase

5. Light denim for me is another one of those must-have spring colors. This strap dress is combined with a cream colored over the shoulder bag, a nude nail polish, and metallic/rose gold sandals. Add a bow to make the look extra adorable.
Purchase

6. This second Burberry Prorsum SS14 inspired outfit is aimed towards those end of winter/beginning of spring days. The salmon colored lace trousers are my favorite piece from this look; so cute! This look can also be worn with a simple white cami tucked into the trousers.
Purchase

And for those of us who just can't leave the house without wearing something black, don't worry, I've got some spring looks for you guys (including me) as well.

7. The oversized tee, boyfriend jeans, and ankle boot look is my number one pick for a casual yet different ensemble for spring. It looks simple, laid back, and looks good on pretty much anyone.
Purchase

8. Playsuit and sneakers- who could say no?! I love playsuits for the spring because when it comes to going out, I don't have to worry about picking out a top to go with bottoms, or vice versa. The sneakers just give the outfit a comfortable feel, which I'm all about.
Purchase

9. Another boyfriend jean-look, this time, with espadrilles. Again, keeping it light (material wise), simple, and relaxed.
Purchase

10. This is where my obsession with ripped jeans enters- I couldn't leave them out! For spring, you can style them with a lightweight long sleeve with simple print/patterns, along with a pair of your favorite sandals. And of course, a rosy and sweet-scented perfume.
Purchase

11. And the leather pants. Woohoooo. This look is for the cool spring days, as leather pants would be a huge no during hotter days. Who said you couldn't wear monochrome looks during a season that's known for vivid colors? Well whoever did, don't listen to them. You work that monochrome girl.
Purchase

12. Solid colored playsuits are a gateway to being able to pair them up with more fun and decorative pieces. In this case, we have a floral shoulder bag. While the outfit is black from head to toe, the addition of the pink and green Givenchy print becomes distinctive and attracts attention.
Purchase

*Any item without a link provided appeared to be sold out*

And with the last look, I end my post here. I hope you guys liked the outfits and find some inspiration within them. Happy Saturday xx

WHEELS AND CRAFTS

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Hi guys! Quick apology: really sorry for taking ages to update my blog! I've finally gotten the time to share something new with you all today :) Instead of having a typical day of classes, I got the opportunity to visit a couple of museums in LA! Below are photos from exhibits in the Craft & Folk Art and Petersen Automotive Museum. As I was doubting whether I was interested enough to actually attend both exhibits, I can now say I'm extremely glad I didn't pass up the opportunity. While learning facts about marvelous sculptors and artists, it enabled my mind to take in ideas and admire all of their amazing work. As for the Petersen Museum, I got to see a massive variety of cars! It's unbelievable how far the human brain can go when it comes to inventing things.

And while you're scrolling though my photos, I decided to add a few silly ones I took with friends during the nifty museum tours.
This car was seriously the cutest thing ever to me!
Ladies and gentlemen, the Batmobile! Apparently, the costume shown above which the life size Batman is wearing was actually used in the filming of the original movie!
Kisses from my friend Marissa and I hehe. Marissa is wearing a knitted jumper from H&M.
Elephant bracelet: gift from my mom; Bottom bracelet: eBay.com.
My new favorite ankle boots from Vince Camuto. LOVE everything about them!
This particular artist used recycled items (i.e. broken plates, mirrors, shells, bottle caps, etc.) to create his work. Amazing.
No, that's not 3 apples for 25 cents, or 5 grapefruits for 25 cents… during the 1930's, food would vary from 3 POUNDS of apples or 5 POUNDS of grapefruit for only 25 cents!! If only some things never changed.
My outfit: Jacket: Thrifted | Top: Zara | Jeans: H&M | Boots: Vince Camuto
